“One of the areas I covered on 10 January with a group of 18-21 year old young people from the Action for Children group of the BP Young Leaders Programme 2014 was on how to perform under pressure, and the emotions that come with it. Nervousness and excitement were two of the main ones we covered as a group. Before meeting the guys I was experiencing both of these, as Friday was going to be the first time I had delivered for the  programme and I was jumping in at the deep end, delivering the day on my own!

All of these feelings were completely unnecessary as the guys were open, engaging and interested in everything we did that day. We started with some ice breakers – but with a little difference – as I had adapted some from judo warm up games. We went on to talk about goal setting and how it can help you achieve what seems like a massive task to start off with, by breaking it down into smaller goals which seem far more achievable.

We finished with a chat about how we could use what we’d talked about personally and where they would like to be and how they could achieve this. I had a great time and can’t wait to get more involved, and hopefully see a little further down the line how the guys are doing in achieving their goals!”
